Pipe Insulation |
All grades of Thermotec pipe insulation have similar performance in relation to operating temperature, thermal conductivity, non-toxicity and moisture absorption.
Fire performance, noise attenuation, chemical resistance, size and wall thickness availability and cost are factors which will usually lead to the selection of a specific grade of Thermotec pipe insulation.
Preformed flame retarded pipe insulation, incorporating unique press seal fastener for quick and easy application on installed pipework.
Economic alternative to Quick Seal grade, particularly suitable where pipework is insulated prior to installation.
Incorporating a factory applied reinforced aluminium covering for optimum fire performance in accordance with AS 1530.3.
Preformed pipe insulation with factory applied heavy duty barium loaded vinyl outer noise barrier. Available in standard and 4-Zero grades.
| Thin walled green coloured pipe insulation for domestic applications and dead legs on recirculating hot water systems.
Foam sheet cut to predetermined width to exactly fit large diameter pipe. Grooved on inside to eliminate tension and facilitate quick and easy application. Available in standard, 4-Zero or acoustic finish.

Pipe Insulation Specifications |
The pipe insulation shall comprise Thermotec Quick Seal/Sealed Tube/4-Zero/Acoustic Standard/Acoustic 4-Zero/Polytube (delete non-applicable grades) fire retarded, closed cell polyethylene foam, having a density of not less than 50kg/m3.
All insulation shall be installed around the pipework surface as tightly as possible without gaps, with the edges and ends tightly butted together.
All joints shall be taped using a 48mm adhesive backed PVC tape, or if faced with aluminium foil, joints shall be taped using a 48mm pressure sensitive aluminium tape.
Where necessary, the pre-formed sections shall be cut (using a sharp knife or scissors) and mitred, to ensure a tight fit around bends and at tees.
At union flanges, valves and strainers, or any areas where access is required for maintenance, insulation shall incorporate the press seal fastener system.
Metal sheathing is required for areas where the product is subject to mechanical damage.
Where supports and spacer blocks are used to support the pipework, the pipe insulation shall be butted up tightly to the spacer blocks and sealed using a silicone sealant.
If pipework is scheduled to be painted for protection from U.V. and/or identification purposes, the pipe insulation shall be coated using an acrylic based paint in accordance with paint manufacturers recommendations.
Service penetration units shall be designed to meet a 4 hour fire rating as per AS 1530.4.
